Rainy Saturday

I love the phrase above,
and my work unit agreed that this shall be our motto. lol.
As part of work, I've organized a trip to the Art Science Museum for staff.
Was taking care of a group of 50.
Dinner was at Secret Recipe,
then we walked over to MBS Art Science Museum.
The managing of the flow of events was tough,
but in the end, everything turned out okay :)
We all had to walk in the drizzle,
but good thing was that I had made them bring umbrellas.
Pictures time!

Now you know how good looking we are :D lol!

And now you know how crazy we are :P

Overall, it was an interesting trip.
But I don't think it was worth the ticket price.
Luckily for me, everything was sponsored.
Cuz the organizers get to enjoy the event they organize for free :)
Next month, I'll be organizing a trip to Udder's Ice cream making workshop.
Yays :D I love such perks.

:(

The dust of the GE will soon settle down.
But since I had written smth earlier about it,
I felt like I needed to write this to give myself some closure for this exciting phase.
Not that I'm disgruntled or anything with the results.
But I just need an outlet to pen this down.
At this moment, I feel that Fb is too open an outlet.
And I don't wish to cause any more issues than there is already on fb.

This has to be the most emotion-fueled GE ever.
I can't remember how 2006 GE was like,
but I doubt it was as fiery and mind-boggling as this year's.
There is only one walkover this year,
with the rest all being contested for.
True, not all the opposition are worthy candidates.
And I feel relieved to see PAP old guards running for election.
In the objective view, they should win.
And yes, I wished them to win overall.
The last thing I'd want is a freak election where PAP lost the government.

But this GE has lost 2 great men.
All because of the flawed GRC system.
I bet nobody wants TPL to be in instead of GY.
At the very beginning, I had told b that this whole system is flawed.
I was exasperated as to why we cannot vote in candidates singlely.
As in like how we will choose all those we think can serve us,
and to put them together.
B was saying this view will be dismissed as "airy-fairy",
cuz it will meant a rojak kind of government.
But to me, this was how Singapore had trained us to think, isnt it?
Like, you put talents all together to do something greater than life.
Why is it so hard for them to come together,
regardless of which party they are in,
to serve the country they claim to love?
All because of political ambition to have the government wholly?

Because of the political ambitions and flawed system,
2 men, who served with humility were sacrificed.
Mr George Yeo and Mr Chiam See Tong.
These were the 2 men who were not as politically ambitious
(or should I say not as cunning),
yet they were sacrificed in this cruel system.
I feel very upset for this loss.
I cried when I heard SPP lost Potong Pasir.
Some may say "Well, he can don't leave Potong Pasir".
And yes, to some selfish extent, I wished he hadn't.
But I believed his point was that he wanted to spread "his kind of town" to more places.

Potong Pasir is a uniquely different kind of town.
Walking into it already feels different.
It's old, with faded colored buildings around,
but there was a sense of warmth and innocence about that place.
It feels very old school, very secure, very comfortable.
It's Chiam See Tong's kind of town.
A town I wouldn't mind to stay in actually.
I can forego all the material things,
in exchange for an MP with a heart.
But sadly, my parents didn't consider moving in Potong Pasir.

Many people cried when they saw Mr Chiam during his walkabout in TPY.
I saw it for myself.
He was a hunched over old man,
yet his eyes spoke of so many stories untold.
He is a passionate man who only wanted to serve his people right.
Have you all seen his makeshift Meet the People session area?
While other PAP constitutencies have air con rooms for MPS,
his was at a void deck, with aluminium boxes as a makeshift area.
This is been ongoing for ages.
He has fought for Potong Pasir for 27 years,
and now the Potong Pasir we know of will soon be gone.

I do not blame the Potong Pasir residents.
I'm very sure they all have their reasons to choose what they vote for.
And they have been brave for 27 years.
It may be time to give them the break they deserve.
But I weep for the loss of a great man.
One who is really the epitome of a leader with humility, kindness and warmth.
Tell me, who else in the Singapore political arena is like him?
I've just read Alvin's blog, a resident from Potong Pasir.
It's an eye-opener to how the residents of Potong Pasir feel.
I salute Mr Chiam See Tong, for sticking to what he has always believed in.
To be unwavering in the past 27 years in the face of greed, ambitions, fame and money.

"I'm not a brave person but I love Singapore, I love Singaporeans"
- Chiam See Tong

You have my utmost respect till my deathbed.
For now, I hope you will finally get a breather and some rest to get ur health back.

Sounds of April

Happy Birthday to dearest Char :)
As her bday falls on the Royal wedding day,
I've conveniently added a princess tiara on her :D
Pardon the blurness of some of their faces.
The photographer's hand wasn't very stable. :p

I'm glad I join them once a week for lunch.
And I hope I'm able to keep up with this habit.
