12.02.2012

The weekend passed by so quickly, darn.
It was really a fruitful one for me though!
Realized I haven't posted food pictures for a longgg time.
(Been lazy to bring the camera out actually. haha!)

So, the boy and I decided to head to Ice Edge Cafe near Kovan on Sat for dinner.
It has been featured by the media quite a bit, so thought would like to give it a try.
Tucked away at a corner of the heartland; it's situated at a place that is too easy to miss.
But I quite like the quietness of the place, very homely and great for chilling out.
Been too busy and too caught up with errands.
We really need more of such chill-out sessions.
Pictures time!

We ordered the New Zealand ribeye, and the Pesto chicken for mains.
The chicken dish was nice; sauce was rich and creamy.
The ribeye was a huge letdown though.
Then again, I had already warned the boy that it's hard to get good steak at just any restaurant.
I guess we gotta stick to places well known for their steaks. lol.
He wasn't even impressed with Angus Steakhouse.
We're heading to Prive soon, which he said the steak's reallllyy good.
We shall see. lol.

Desserts wise, we were contemplating between the lava cake and creme brulee.
But since he likes creme brulee,  we went along with that.
I chose the ice cream flavor - mao shan wang durian ice cream :D
Hence, the atypical combination of local flavor ice cream + a french custard dessert.
The ice cream was nice, but the creme brulee is well..not too fantastic.
Tasted others that are much better.
Maybe we should have stuck to the choc lava cake instead :)

Now for more wedding updates....
We went to choose gowns for the prewedding shoot today!
I think it's kind of crazy that we are willing to travel all the way to JB..
just so we can have our shots taken by our dream company. lol.
Even though this company is based in Malaysia,
its packages are even more expensive than Singapore's bridal shops.
But I had chosen this place for its photography.
Gowns wise, I wasn't too hopeful to find my actual day gowns in here,
so I had chosen a local bridal shop for my actual day gowns.
This means, I have 2 bridal shops to run to. lol.

Was pleasantly surprised when I stepped into their shop.
It's grander than most bridal shops in Singapore :)
Maybe cuz it's one of the top bridal shops in M'sia,
hence, even the whole feel is very different.
But the funny thing about this bridal shop is that,
instead of focusing on gowns, they focus much more on photography.
Their founders are a bunch of professional photographers ;)
I do think their standards don't lose out to Singapore's top wedding photographers,
such as Raymond Phang, Moretopurple, Acapella etc.

Tried on some of the gowns meant for the prewedding shoot.
The gowns really aren't quite up to my expectations, but they are alright I guess.
Between gowns and photography skills, I pick photography skills for a prewedding shoot.
But for actual day.. it's a different story ;)
Enough of rattling, pictures time (even though I'm not supposed to share the pics yets :P)
Too excited not to share! haha!

These are not all, but I'm kind of lazy to post all of them up :P
I'm more particular about the white gown I'm going to wear,
hence I picked more of the white ones to try :)

They are all quite pretty I must say..
but there isn't one that quite fits the perfect bill.
I prefer non-heart shape kind of front,
and high waist instead of mid or low waist..
A line gown or ball gown are fine by me though.
Just not trumpet or mermaid.

Mm.. now that I'm thinking about gowns again..
I can't wait for the second appointment!
Going to try on more colored gowns then :D

Alright! The bed is calling out to me...
Nights ye'all. :)

Lights.

"I'll love the light for it shows me the way,
yet I'll endure the darkness because it shows me the stars"

Wedding dinner at Grand Shanghai yday :)
It was a different feel from most weddings that I've been to.
Very grand - in a old chinese kind of way.
To play olden-days songs for the wedding was really apt, esp with such an ambience :)
There was a live band too, and a lady in cheongsam was singing all the melodies.
Her singing was awesome,
and it's a pretty nice sight to see some of the older folks getting up and dancing along ;)
Oh, and I really liked how the couple did their second march-in.
They danced in to the song of Cha cham bo.
Light-hearted but so memorable.
It's a cosy wedding alright, and most of the food items were really good,
perhaps with the exception of this Egg white with scallops dish.
Not aesthetically appealing, and the egg white with scallops combination didn't work well at all.
Of the lot, I particularly liked the Wasabi prawns dish and the fried eel dish.
Fusion-food; that seems to be the trend of late for many wedding dishes.
Wasn't feeling too well since yday, but thankful I could make it for the wedding.
And I'm very happy for this relative who got married :)
I've never seen him look more xing fu.

Went to visit Serena at Mount Alvernia on Friday!
Baby Ruiqi is sooooo adorable with all the small noises she makes :)
Much as I think that babies all look quite alike,
some babies actually do look more delicate than others.
And Ruiqi has really cute features if you ask me!
Congrats to Serena and Gerald once again on their babybun! :D
I can't wait for her to grow a little bigger so I can buy her pretty frocks :D

Actually, there are many more things I want to blog about,
say Wicked the Muscical, wedding planning and work.
But I have another set of presentation slides to do..
boo.

Was telling Hoon that I've no idea how am I going to juggle wedding planning with work.
Timing is really quite critical right now,
and everything seems to be calling for my attention.
Maybe I should really draw up a detailed timeline,
and to stick closely to it.
I really feel like I'm a gov officer by day, and a wedding planner by night. lol.
I'm fretting so much when my wedding is in Jan next year,
I wonder how Kelly is feeling, esp when it was decided not long ago that she is getting married this Oct!
But I really don't think I'm being overworried or anything,
esp when good venues and vendors are being snapped up like nobody's business!
It's definitely better to plan early, than to start panicking at the very end right? ;)

Alrighto, will update again.
Time to do my last presentation slides. le sigh.
