Roads.

“They say every road comes to an end,
but sometimes the end feels just like the beginning.
Even when you think you’ve come a long way.”

Been experiencing bouts of angst of late.
But thank goodness for the family and friends who were always there.
Like the saying goes,
there is bound to be a silver lining behind those stormy clouds...

This post is going to be on food galore again,
cuz food and good company go hand in hand, don't they? ;)

In preparation to go for company's appreciation dinner at Concorde Hotel.
Loving the neon, vibrant hues of the H&M dress (:
The food at Concorde was alright, nothing awesome though.

Went with the family to House of Seafood,
where the Yck branch is just a stone's throw away from my hse.
The above photo was that of their chili crab.
Chili crab was normal, but on the slightly spicier side.
But the salted egg yolk crab was the bomb!
It was literally finger licking good :D
But yes, I know, keep the cholesterol level in check :P
Heard that this outlet is forced to close due to roads widening..
Oh dear. Will visit their other outlets when crab craving strikes again!

Met up with Jx at Nex Mall for her bday dinner :)
She introduced me to this jap pasta restaurant which I haven't been to.
Its name is Kabe no Ana.
Upon googling, it actually means "hole in the wall" in Japanese.
Apparently this restaurant invented the mentaiko spaghetti.
Oh my, no wonder their menu was littered with mostly mentaiko items!
Not that I'm complaining :D
I'm a huge mentaiko fan!
But I still can't figure out the meaning behind its name.
Kinda queer, if you ask me.

We both ordered the mentaiko carbonara.
And I added a pumpkin soup as well.
The soup was good, thick, smooth and piping hot.
The carbonara was pretty awesome too,
but both Jx and I agreed that the portion was too huge.
Should have shared :D
Definitely heading there again soon.

Finally caught up with a dear old friend after almost 2 years!
Sebastian was a good friend from university,
and we haven't met up for ages! haha.
Watami never fail, so yes,
it was THE choice when we agreed to meet at ION.
Beef sukiyaki for me again (:
Plus the heavenly Watami salad of course.
Had a good time sharing stories and complaining about work. lol!
Well, redtape is really prevalent huh.

The next few photos are those of the boyfriend's father's bday!
Dinner was at Majestic Restaurant (New Majestic Hotel).
Omg. The food there were heavenly.
But the bill was atrocious as well. haha!

This suckling pig was the only letdown of the evening.
Too big, too thick and not as succulent.

We were spying the chef hard at work preparing our food :)
This dish was a combination of foie gras, wasabi prawn, I think.
Didn't really like the taste of foie gras.
The wasabi prawn was aweseome though.
The prawn was fresh and juicy,
and the wasabi taste wasn't overpowering.

This was a "Buddha jumps over the wall" soup if I'm not wrong.
It was very well broiled, and the taste was superb :D
Only gripe is that the abalone was too tough to bite.
Guess it was overcooked in the broiling process.

This abalone with tofu dish stole the limelight.
The abalone meat was tender,
and the tofu was super soft and tasty!
Even the broccoli was well done.

Stir fried asparagus was good too :)
It was light; good to clean the palate after all the "heavy-flavored" dishes.

This was oyster mee sua.
Not a fan of oysters.
And this was the last dish.
We were all so super fun by then.

But still, that didn't stop us from ordering the famous "liu sha bao"
It was SUPER GOOD! :)
No wonder it's famous.

 Happy birthday Uncle!
We were too full to eat the Lychee Martini cake.
Ended up bringing the entire cake back. lol.

As part of R&R, my colleague and I organized a dim sum workshop for staff.
Headed down to Rochor Centre on a saturday noon to learn how to make these little dainties.
They were so very difficult to master.
The final goodies above were pretty nice :D
But I doubt I'd be making them at home anytime soon.
Too much hassle and difficult to master.

The boy and I decided to bake and cook on Saturday!
I came across this Earl Grey Cupcake with Lemon Buttercream Recipe online,
and decided to try it out!
It looks very pretty right :D
But sadly, the taste of the earl grey didn't came out strongly,
despite tossing in 2 entire bags of earl grey tea inside the mixture.

Other than the cupcakes, there was the good old Rosti with bratwurst and eggs :D
This is fast becoming our favourite homecooked dish. lol!
He's the awesome chef, while I was the lousy sidekick. hahah!
I think he inherited his mum's cooking genes.
Well, apparently I didn't inherit any of the cooking genes from my mumsie
(who's an awesome cook too)
Looks like there's alot of catch up for me. haha!

------

Spent today cleaning up my room,
and it's all neat and tidy already (:
Then the rest of the day was spent with the boy,
going ikea and lugging back many photo frames.
And just hanging around surfing the net and watching F1.

I love weekends that are so well-spent (:
Glad I didn't bring home my work laptop this weekend.
It really makes a difference.
I'm more chilled and relaxed.

There's an important meeting tomorrow,
but I've casted it to the back of my mind for 2 good days.
There are always important meetings (seems to be a weekly affair),
but there is only one of me.
I need my work-life balance.
And there comes this point,
where I have to learn to let go of things (:

Tipping point

Happiness does not come easily.
And even if it does, it comes in fleeting moments.
At what price am I paying for this momentary happiness?
Hard work, sacrifice, fatigue, angst, helplessness.
What happens after a moment of bittersweet happiness?
The entire cycle begins again.

Most will sigh and say "welcome to the real world" or "this is life."

I'm standing at the tipping point.
Getting ready to almost give up everything up.
Just for my moment of solitude, and non responsibility..
Call me a coward, but at this point,
Opinions no longer matter.
